McSTREAMY.COM (02/07/2015) – In celebration of Black History Month, PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay North America division is Calling All Artists to submit an original piece of art online for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 through its “Create to Celebrate” Black History Month art contest.

The contest, which kicked off in early January, encourages consumers to upload an original piece of art created in any medium celebrating African American achievement in Black History to www.CelebrateBlackHistory.com by midnight on Feb. 14.

In addition to a grand prize winner, a second prize winner will receive $5,000 and a third prize winner will receive $2,500. Consumer voting will determine the finalists and a judging panel will select the winners from the finalist entries.

February is Black History Month.

February is Black History Month. President Barack Obama (front-left) has become part of Black History. His election, and re-election, is another of many achievements by Black inventors, business people, political activists, political candidates, agricultural pioneers, musicians, writers, artists, actors, etc.

New this year, consumers can submit their art work through Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #myBHMentry. For every eligible consumer vote received, Frito-Lay will donate $1 to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) up to a maximum donation of $20,000.

“The response we’ve seen so far around the ‘Create to Celebrate’ Black History Month art contest has been inspiring,” said Jim Meier, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America.

“Consumers still have the opportunity to help us give back to the UNCF by submitting and then voting for their favorite entry. With every vote, consumers will be supporting the educational needs of artists and students across the nation,” Meier added.

Beginning Feb. 15 until Feb. 28, eligible fans, 13 years of age and older, can vote once a day for their favorite “Create to Celebrate” Black History Month art contest entry by visiting www.CelebrateBlackHistory.com. The top-25 entries which receive the most online fan votes will become finalists.

The winners, which will be announced on or around March 24, will be selected from the finalist entries by a Frito-Lay judging panel based on artistic talent, creativity and Black History Month relevance.

The UNCF is an American philanthropic organization that funds scholarships for black students and provides general scholarship funding for 39 private historically black colleges and universities.
