McSTREAMY.COM (11/11/2017) – Kirstjen Nielsen, current White House Deputy Chief of Staff, appeared in front of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing November 8, 2017. The hearing was to determine whether she would meet requirements of the committee to fill the position of Department of Homeland Security Secretary, to which she has been nominated by President Donald Trump. She was questioned by several Democrat and Republican committee members, including the Chair, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), and Ranking Member, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri). Nielsen says she believes funding, administration and decisions regarding Homeland Security should be risk and rules based rather than political. She also said, among other things, she would become involved in working with social media to remove terrorist recruitment information, and would make sure DACA rules would not be over stepped during the congressional decision process in progress. – McStreamy NewsBriefs
