McSTREAMY.COM NEWS – Singer, songwriter, and actress Marianne Faithfull, passed away January 30, 2025 at the age of 78. She rose to fame in the 1960s with the hit song “As Tears Go By,” written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Andrew Loog Oldham. Her career took a downturn in the 1970s due to struggles with addiction, but she made a comeback with the 1979 album “Broken English” and went on to release critically acclaimed music.
Other Marianne Faithful albums in her career included “Strange Weather” (1987) and “Before the Poison” (2004). Marianne Faithful’s later music found her collaborating with artists like PJ Harvey and Nick Cave.
In addition to her work in the recording industry, Faithfull acted in numerous films and theater during her lengthy career. Mariane Faithful’s autobiography, “Faithfull” (1994), speaks about her life and times.
The early career of Marianne Faithful in the 1960s ensured her a place in the so-called British Invasion ushered in by the strong showing of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and many others. Marianne Faithful received a Women’s World Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. Her recordings were released by Decca, London, Island, RCA and Virgin labels.
In 1999, Faithfull ranked 25th on VH1’s 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll.
